  • Just tried changing from HD to AC97 for the front panel - didn't help. And btw, the microphone is working. Also, is it normal that the front panel isn't listed under jack information in the Speakers Setup? Edit: After installing the VIA HD driver and HD VDeck I am able to manually activate/deactivate speakers and headphones.

AC'97 Front Panel Audio - DIY? My plan is to build a connector to go from the AC'97 front panel header on the motherboard to a pair of panel-mount RCA jacks on an unused PCI slot blank. I have ond PC case so only AC97 Front panel for me.
I know that there are three steps:
1) Connect AC97 Front Panel connector to AFFP connector on motherboard
2) Change Front Panel type from [HD] (by default) to [AC97] in BIOS

3) Change Front Panel type from [HD] (by default) to [AC97] in driver advanced settings (FupremeFX window for ROG Motherboard owners)
I have problem with 2nd step!
On page 1-35 of the motherboard manual there are info:
Set the Front Panel Type item in the BIOS setup to [AC97]..
I updated my BIOS to latest virsion and there no such option! I looked in two places:Panel
Advanced -> PCH Configuration -> HD Audio Configuration (not even mention of Audio settings)
